After a two year hiatus to focus on teaching Gemma Hare has recently returned to her love of painting. An Edinburgh College of Art graduate, Gemma creates energetic, intuitive and painterly work, incorporating elements of drawing, painting, collage and printmaking.
Gemma seeks inspiration from her surroundings, including nature, architecture and the figure. Her current work is based on the Scottish coastline, combining the visual aspects with the weather, resulting in abstract exploration of colour and composition.
Gemma currently teaches young people with complex needs and has previously taught art in schools, as well as creating and teaching her own workshops for both children and adults in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire.
Having returned to her creative practice, Gemma is now beginning to exhibit her work again.

Gemma has recently won a Meffan Purchase Prize at the Meffan Winter Show, Forfar, where her work has been added to the gallery's collection.
